Flood Alleviation Scheme Mitford, Morpeth Field Drainage and Reclamation

During periods of heavy rain, countless properties in Morpeth had fallen victim to flooding as seen in 2009.

For the Flood Alleviation Scheme, we used a ‘Interdrain’ 161BP tracked trenchless machine to install 160mm main and lateral drainage. 360° Excavators were used to install 5 storm water catch pits to divert water from the town. In preparation for this our tractor chisel plough and stone pick harrow attachments were used to rip up subsoil ready for the new topsoil. Later the land was cultivated and seeded.
