River Erosion Installation

September 5, 2016

Our contract was to divert the existing course of the river and install a larch erosion barrier, to prevent further erosion from taking place.  This project was more than just installing a barrier, this work was part of a conservation project.  Before we could start the work approximately 30 fish (including salmon, brown trout and minnows) were caught by an environmental team and then released back into the river to allow them to continue their onward journey.  Dumpy bags were used to dam the river to create a dry working area.  This allowed us to install a natural wood erosion barrier made from local larch.  The new wood barrier will blend in beautifully with the countryside as time passes.
